Alternate Route P-3 Certification
Admission requirements:
- A completed graduate application form, including a $55 non-refundable application fee
- Official transcripts from all previous U.S. colleges attended or official course-by-course evaluation of any foreign transcripts*
- A copy of regular CE in P-3 (temporary/limited CE not acceptable) (a list of your certifications can be downloaded on )
- Must have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (even if you already hold a state issued CE)
- A letter from the hiring manager or administrator on letterhead from your school or school district indicating that the school or school district will enroll you in the provisional teacher program and verifies that you are a fulltime lead teacher of record in P-3 setting.
- 50 hour Introduction to Teaching course verification form. NJCU offers this course through the Office of Professional and Lifelong Learning (PELL) department. You can for the course through NJCU.
- (This can be waived if you already have a CEAS or standard license in another area. Please contact department chair to discuss waiver eligibility)
*Note: NJCU does not evaluate international transcripts. In lieu of a transcript, applicants with a non-U.S. degree need to submit a course-by-course evaluation from a that includes U.S. bachelor鈥檚 degree equivalency information for their coursework.
International Applicants:
This program is not currently available to international students seeking an F-1 student visa.
