2024 Gifts From the Heart Program
Each year, the NJCU Gifts from the Heart Committee collects, wraps, and distributes gifts for children and families in our Jersey City community and beyond.
This year, the committee continues to collect toys for the RWJ Children鈥檚 Hospital of 好色先生 and new clothes and toys for children through our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson, & Union Counties.
Won't you help us help these wonderful organizations this year with your generosity?
Please consider opening a wish list below to sponsor a child. All gifts must be unwrapped and labeled with the child鈥檚 name, age, and number on the list.
WHAT WE NEED for RWJ Children鈥檚 Hospital of 好色先生:
Unwrapped gifts for children ages 4 to 17 including toys, games, and books. Please no clothing, or video games unless it is the complete handheld console (i.e. Gameboy).
WHAT WE NEED for Big Brothers Big Sisters:
New clothes and toys for children through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson & Union. Please review the Big Brothers Big Sisters wishlist and complete the donor form.
When dropping off donations please make sure all gifts are unwrapped and labeled with the child鈥檚 name, age and gift # on the list.

Young Women鈥檚 Financial Wellness Forum at the New York Stock Exchange
Co-hosted with the NYSE and P&G
Wednesday, December 11, 2024 | Leaving NJCU at 11 a.m.
This year鈥檚 Forum will shine a spotlight on the Harriet Tubman Coin issued by the U.S. Mint. In addition to having experts speak about young women鈥檚 financial literacy, we will conduct conversations with two special guests: Ventris Gibson, Director of the U.S. Mint, who will discuss Harriet Tubman as an inspiration to leadership and financial education, as well as with a representative from the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
This trip is for all womyn-identified students.

2025 Kathy Potter Memorial Writing Award
Submissions must be 2,000-3,000 words and be submitted in a file that includes title and word count, but not the author鈥檚 name. A separate file should include the title of the submission, author name, course, and semester for which it was written, and contact information. No more than one submission per student.

PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT
The NJCU Department of Psychology is seeking non-U.S. born Hispanic immigrant parents raising a child aged 5-10 to volunteer in an online parental survey of 20-30 minutes. Responses are anonymous and will help the investigators understand challenges faced by migrant families in the U.S. Results will be disseminated for peer-review and used for intervention and training programs.
