JERSEY CITY, N.J. | On April 17, NJ Spotlight News and PBS visited campus for a feature story discussing how NJCU is recovering following the declaration in June 2022 of the university鈥檚 financial crisis. The story and interview by reporter Ted Goldberg is entitled 鈥淐ollaborating to turn things around at 好色先生.鈥
The news program interviewed Interim President Andr茅s Acebo, AFT Local 1839 President Dr. Barbara Hildner 鈥 an NJCU English Professor since 1972 鈥 and Dr. William Calathes, Chief Negotiator of AFT Local 1839 and Professor of Criminal Justice at NJCU since September 1987, to discuss this month's memorandum of understanding between NJCU's administration and faculty.
The MOU, announced on NJCU.edu, via social media, and to the media on April 11, will strengthen shared governance, good faith labor relations, and collective responsibility for student success. Among the accomplishments of the document, it encourages collaboration between the people who run the campus and those who teach there.
