NJCU and NPower Launch New Agreement for Cybersecurity Students

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | (NJCU) and , a national tech training nonprofit, have signed an agreement granting qualified NPower graduates the ability to transfer nine (9) credits towards Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity at the institution.

NPower creates pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities. In addition to 好色先生, NPower currently operates in California, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New York, and Texas.

This new agreement provides NPower graduates another opportunity to further their education in one of the nation鈥檚 fastest growing fields.

Launched in Spring 2020, the Cybersecurity program is housed within the College of Professional Studies and its Professional Security Studies department. It is one of the few in the country to be designated as a center of academic excellence (CAE) in both cybersecurity and intelligence. Additionally, the department is designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-DCE) by the National Security Agency in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

In December 2020, NJCU received the ASTORS Homeland Security Award for Cyber Defense, National Security and Intelligence programs 鈥 the only institution of higher education in the nation honored by the organization.

The NJCU Center for Cybersecurity is an interdisciplinary center for education, training and research. The center aims to provide current and future professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to compete and excel within the cyber security community. The academic foundation for students within the discipline is built through their degree program, certificates and research opportunities.

NPower is a national tech training nonprofit on a mission to move people from poverty to the middle class. NPower concentrates on providing youth from underserved communities and veterans with a range of tech skills and finding them quality jobs. NPower also places students in paid internships with corporate and nonprofit organizations. Students who enter their free, six-month program, earn industry-recognized certifications and graduate with the competencies of an IT professional with one to two years of experience. Eighty percent of NPower graduates get a full-time job or continue their education.
